Message from the Head of the Academy
Prof Amina Abubakar
Across the globe, there are various leadership academies and courses aimed at women; however, many of them are not developed in the context of Low- and Middle-Income Countries. Additionally, quite a number are not open access or affordable for women who may not have financial support.

The Aga Khan University Women Leadership Academy (WLA) seeks to address this gap. Through WLA, we are training ambitious and innovative middle career women in Low and Middle-Income Countries on how to build their leadership capacity and provide them with mentorship and opportunities for networking. The WLA programme is offered free of charge over a six-month period. Upon completing the programme, the women leaders join a vibrant alumni network where they can continue networking, sharing skills opportunities and experiences.
Through each cohort, we strive to develop a group of dynamic and inspirational women who will steer development initiatives within their communities and ignite the spark of excellence in all that they do.
